Total Infertility Evaluation

Proper evaluation of both partners is crucial for the identification of the cause of infertility and consequentially administration of appropriate treatment. The total evaluation includes:

Detailed clinical examinations of both the partners

Prenatal Diagnosis & Genetics

Chorionic villi sampling, Amniocentesis and foetal blood sampling are used for chromosome analysis of the foetus.

Indications

Endoscopic Surgery

Endoscopic procedures are mainly undertaken by Dr. Ashraf & Dr. Subhash.
The common Endoscopic procedures performed at CRAFT include:

Diagnostic Laparohysteroscopy

IUI - Intra-Uterine Insemination

We arrive at a working diagnosis following 2-3 patient visits during which time the following have to be done:

IVF – In Vitro Fertilization

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the most commonly implemented assisted reproductive technology (ART), and has helped thousands to realize their dreams of parenthood. IVF is a four-step process that consists of ovulation induction, egg retrieval, fertilization in a laboratory, and embryo transfer to the mother's uterus.

The clearest advantage of IVF treatment is that it provides previously infertile couples the opportunity to conceive children of their own, but there are many additional IVF benefits. Our doctors can help you understand the procedure and decide if it is the right treatment for you. If you have been having trouble trying to conceive and would like to find a safe and effective treatment that can help you achieve your goal, please contact us to make an appointment with one of our doctors.

ICSI - Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection

IVF ICSI has revolutionized the treatment of male infertility allowing fertilization to occur even if only a few sperma are available. ICSI is a specialized form of micro insemination to help couples overcome male infertility problems such as: low sperm counts, poor motility or movement of the sperm, poor sperm quality, or sperm that lacks the ability to penetrate an egg.

During routine IVF, eggs and sperm are combined and incubated together in order to achieve fertilization. ICSI is performed by the embryologist, who surgically inserts one sperm into each egg.

TESA (TEsticular Sperm Aspiration)

TESA or testicular sperm aspiration (also known as TESE, or testicular sperm extraction) is one of the surgical sperm harvesting techniques used for retrieving sperm in patients with azoospermia. A number of surgical sperm retrieval or recovery methods have been devised to recover sperm from the male reproductive tract.

For patients with obstructive azoopsermia in whom sperm cannot be found in the epididymis, it is always possible to find sperm in the testis. The easiest way to retrieve this is through TESA or testicular sperm aspiration, in which the testicular tissue is sucked out through a fine needle, under local anaesthesia. The testicular tissue is placed in culture media and sent to the lab, where it is processed. The sperm are liberated from within the seminiferous tubules (where they are produced) and are then dissected free from the surrounding testicular tissue. The advantage of doing a diagnostic TESE is that it is less expensive

Level 3 Neonatal Surgery

Neonatal means ‘new born’. Neonatal units at Craft specialize in the care of babies born early, with low weight or who have a medical condition that requires specialized treatment.

This kind of care has a clinical team who takes care of:

Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure that allows a fertility doctor to see inside of the abdomen. In a female, the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries are located in the pelvis which is at the very bottom of the abdomen. Laparoscopy allows the fertility doctor to see abnormalities that might interfere with a woman’s ability to conceive a pregnancy. The most common problems are endometriosis , pelvic adhesions , ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids.

Assisted Hatching

CRAFT is the first infertility center in the State to successfully conduct an assisted hatching pregnancy. A 43 year old woman gave birth to a healthy baby in 2002 after an abortion following ICSI in 2001. Assisted hatching is advantageous to those who have a history of failed IVF or ICSI. This treatment can be conducted using a laser beam or even acid thyroid.

HLT(Husbands Leukocyte Transfer)

In cases of repeated abortions or repeated IVF failures, where you suspect a rejection phenomenon, the best available treatment is HLT. Here we separate lymphocyte, a special white blood cell from the husband’s blood. This is the memory cells in the blood. Its then concentrated and injected into wife’s lymphatics, by a simple method. Its done in 5 times, either at weekly or monthly intervals. After 2 months waiting period, your body will be sensitized. Then you can try for spontaneous conception or try IVF.

Now we are celebrating 500 successful deliveries following HLT. Many of them had several abortions ranging from 4 to 10 abortions, where they had lost their hopes, could get healthy babies after HLT.

Many among these had gone through repeated IVF-ICSI cases ranging from 3 to 9 IVF failed cases. Some of them got twins after HLT.
